.When I boot up my computer Instant Messenger pops up and the sign-in graphic pops up on my desktop .?
I am running Windows XP with Outlook Express 6. These pop-ups appear before I am connected to the internet and are annoying.
Answers:
It's not a virus. Geesh. Everything that happens with computers these days is "OMG, it's a virus." No, it's not. It's the messenger "welcome" window. You can go into your messenger preferences and there should be some check boxes. Just customize it how you want it. And if you want to wait til you are fully logged onto your computer before you open your messenger, check the box that says something like "wait til I log in before signing on" or if there's a checkmark in a box that says "log in automatically", take that check mark out of that box.
Other answers:
Go into the settings and turn off automatic sign in.
You may have a virus. Well, its not a virus, but it may become one. If you have an int. virus scanner. Scan your computer. If you do not. Then I would reccomend downloading McAfee Virus Security Center online. It is free and it can help you a lot in the long-run having a healthy safe computer.
it happens on aim i think u use aim rite? well everytime turn on comp, it pops up becuz u usually use it and its in the policy that it'll pop up everytime it boots up saying that it thinks your gonna sign on and it's a short cut
go to Start>run and type in this MSCONFIG click OK this will bring a box onto your screen ,on the box click the startup tab only...here you will see a list of things with checkmarks...remove the checkmark from everything you don't want starting at startup.click apply> ok
Go to the Start button, and then Control Panel
Double-click Add/Remove Programs
Select Yahoo Messenger and click Remove
Click the Next button and then Finished.
When you are ready to reinstall Yahoo Messenger
Go to http://messenger.yahoo.com and follow the instructions from there.
download Spybot Search and destroy from safer-networking.org or download.com. once you download it go to view-advancced. click on the tooks tab on the left, then on system startup, and you will know what starts up when you boot up.
