Access points inteference?
Does multiple access point placed within signal range of each other have any inteference with one another? As far as I know, once you are connected to an AP via their SSID, you are ok even if there is other signals around.
Have any of you experience where multiple AP are within signal range and you are connected to one, you will expereience unstable connections from the wireless signal.
Thanks ..
Answers:
YES, multiple access points within range of one another can interfere, regardless of SSID. It might be a matter of trial and error to make sure you select a channel that is non-overlapping with other nearby wireless LANs. For 802.11b/g the 3 non-overlapping channels are 1, 6 and 11. If you and a neighbor both happen to be using channel 6 (which is a common factory default) then you can have co-channel interference and the performance for both of you will suffer. Try channels 1/6/11 in turn and see if one gives much better performance than another when doing things like file transfer between machines or downloading music or video.

If you are experiencing interference, you can always try to change the channel on the AP, and that should take care of it. the actual signal interference might be more likely to come from a 2.4Ghz phone that you have around the house or something similar. hope this helps.
Multple AP's can certainly interfere with each other. Different channel numbers for each AP might help - but these should not overlap - so seperate as much as you can. Also some wireless cards allow you to set higher priorites for certain ssid's/ap's - some of dlinks's newer drivers have this capability.
