why did my laptop Lcd screen go grey?

if the monitor stays on, but the lcd isn't, then go into the bios settings, it is set to crt only maybe, then there should be a func key to switch it back and forth, have found that to be the problem also

lol maybe it ran out of batteries try pluging it in then press the ON switch again.
