laptops need to be cool so start properly.
if the cpu heats up it becomes slow and causes problems.
try putting the battery in the fridge for a short while to cool it off which in turn should cool the cpu, but leave the cool battery in the laptop for a while before restarting.

Try a cold power cycle. Make sure that the power cord is out, then remove the battery. Replace the battery, re-plug in the power cord, then try powering it back on.
This fixes about 90% of all laptop non-starting issues.
Uhm, have you tried pushing the button labeled "Power"?
I have a microsoft, IBM think pad and up by the top is a button with a withe dot right in the center (middle) and i press it and hold it down for a couple of seconds.
