How do you install a new hard drive into the PC?
I just got a new 250 gb HD and want to install it into my PC. The problem is - I'm too confused about what's with the slave and master thingy and I don't even know what to connect it to...

If you're confused about, maybe you shouldn't be doing it. You can visit the manufacturer's website like the one I linked you to and see if they have some illustrated instructions to help you. If you have one hard drive in your computer and are just removing it to replace it with a new one, just unattach whatever is attached to the old one and hook it up to the new one. Slide it in place, screw it in, and you're done.
If you're adding another drive to your computer for storage, set the jumper in the back of the drive to "Slave" and hook it up.

He is correct that maybe you should get some help.
As far as the master/slave question: Your computer will have two IDE channels. Each channel can support two IDE devices such as hard drives or CD-ROMS. On each channel you can have only one device set as master. The other must be set as a slave. You can also choose cable select, which means that master/slave is chosen automatically by the device's position on the cable. I never use it because it can cause problems if you have devices with different manufacturers.
Hi! It´s easy:
Master drive is the one that is attached to the ribbon type cable´s end (sometimes it has a mark that says "MASTER").
The slave ussually is attached to a middle connector on tha same "ribbon".
I suggest you to attach your new drive as a slave, for ease. The worst thing could happen is that your drive´s letter change. No big deal, if does: swap drives positions.
